Hairy crab tests satisfactory
In nutrition, the diet is the sum of the food consumed by a body. Proper nutrition for a human requires vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fuel in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Imbalances between the consumed fuels and expended energy results in either starvation or excessive reserves of adipose tissue, or body fat.

In addition to the 24 hairy crabs tested earlier, the Centre for Food Safety has collected 43 more samples for chemical and microbiological analyses, and all showed satisfactory results.

The microbiological tests cover parasites, while the chemical tests include heavy metals and drug residues, including chloramphenicol and nitrofurans.

Despite these results, the centre reminded consumers to be careful when purchasing and eating hairy crabs.

The centre noted people, in particular the chronically-ill, should maintain a balanced diet and avoid eating too many hairy crabs, particularly the cholesterol-rich roe and sperm.
