US plastic and cosmetic surgeons have welcomed the FDA decision of lifting ban on silicone breast implants for women for breast reconstruction in women of all ages and breast augmentation in women ages 22 and older.

Last weak, FDA approved silicone breast implants manufactured by Allergan Corp. (formerly Inamed Corp.), Irvine, California, and Mentor Corp., Santa Barbara, California.

Plastic surgeons and makers of silicone breast implants are gearing up for a boom in sales in US.
