Health Insurance :: India to launch health accident insurance scheme

Kerala India government would launch a health-accident insurance scheme for tsunami affected families on August 25, Revenue Minister, K P Rajendran, said.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he said the scheme titled 'Tsunami Gen Bheema Yojana' was part of the various programmes announced by Prime Minister for tsunami victims.

Union Minister of state for planning, M V Rajasekhar, would inaugurate the scheme, he said.

The scheme would be beneficial for 1.54 lakh tsunami affected families who were below the poverty line in the state, he said.

Out of the annual insurance premium of Rs 800, Rs 500 would be paid from the Prime Minister's relief fund and the rest would be Central subsidy, he said.

The scheme was chalked by the centre, State government and the United India insurance company, he said.
