Heartburn is characterized as a burning pain behind the breast-bone, heartburn is caused by acid reflux, the back-flow of stomach contents upward into the esophagus.

Suffering an irritation of the upper part of the stomach (where it meets the esophagus) also known as - acid reflux - or - Esophagus burn - often as a result of eating too much or too fast.

When under stress you produce too much stomach acid; medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or prescription anti-inflammatory or arthritis drugs also may contribute to heartburn. Also, as you get older, your natural digestive function becomes less efficient and should be improved with specific nutritional intake.

Foods that may cause Heartburn:

Alcohol
Coffee, tea, cola, and other caffeinated and carbonated beverages
Chocolate
Citrus fruits and juices
Tomatoes and tomato sauces (such as pizza and pasta sauce)
Spicy foods and fatty foods (including full-fat dairy products)
Peppermint and spearmint
