In a study funded by the National Cancer Institute, Professor Elizabeth Holly of the University of California in San Francisco, and team, conducted lifestyle interviews with 2,233 adults, including 532 pancreatic cancer patients.

When the researchers analyzed the responses, they found that subjects who ate five or more servings of vegetables daily had half the pancreatic cancer risk of those eating two or fewer servings.

The scientists noted that raw vegetables seemed to provide greater benefit than cooked.

These findings suggest that a healthful diet may provide protection from pancreatic cancer.
