Backache
Health is a unity and harmony within the mind, body and spirit which is unique to each person, and is as defined by that person. The level of wellness or health is, in part, determined by the ability to deal with and defend against stress. Health is determined by physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, and developmental stage variables.

Backache

Back Pain :: Backache

Back Pain :: Backache

Back pain is the scourge of the new world. The majority of adults suffer from this at some time in their lives.

The normal wear and tear of the ageing process, poor physical fitness, bad working habits, stress, muscular tension and poor posture can all contribute to back pain. Other significant contributing factors include age and occupation.

Many experts believe that the current increase in spinal problems can be attributed, at least in part, to modern sedentary working conditions and general life style.

Some of simple exercises a person can do to prevent back pain while at work.

1. Pull your chin in, turn your head slowly to one side, do not jerk it, and then slowly turn it to the opposite side. Repeat this for 3 - 4 times and relax.

2. Raise your shoulders up towards your ears then push them back slowly without jerk and relax. Repeat 2 - 3 times.

3. Tighten tummy muscles as you breathe out fully and count to 5 before releasing. Repeat 3 - 4 times and relax. This helps to promote good posture too.

4. Take a break when you are sitting in one position for long, stand erect with your feet slightly apart. Place your hands in the small of your back. Keep your knees straight and push your hips forward and your shoulders backward. Repeat 2 - 3 times and relax. This will help stretch the spine and release the tension.
